Musik to Grow Teachers
Jan Boner M.Ed. MT-BC, NICU- MT
Jan is owner and director of Musik to Grow since its conception in 1991, offering music classes and music therapy in the Cobb County community for young children [3 months through 10 years.] It's purpose is to help children, teachers and parents grow with music.
Jan is adjunct faculty of Kennesaw State University since Summer 2008. She is Past President of the international Early Childhood Music & Movement Association whose mission is to promote best practices in all areas of early childhood music and movement. She specifically served with the Editorial Committee developing publications. Jan also conducts workshops for early childhood educators approved by the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning.
She holds national board certification in Music Therapy and certification in NICU Music Therapy which specializes in working with premature infants. Jan completed a Masters in Education through the Lesley University, Integrated Teaching through the Arts Program. She earned a Bachelors of Music in Music Therapy from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio and a Bachelors of Theology, with emphasis in leadership training from The Way College of Biblical Research, Emporia Kansas. Jan is certified to teach all Musikgarten curricula, and holds ECMMA Certification Level III, and Orff Schulwerk Level II. Jan's experience and education indicates her passion for music and the young child.
Adina Lambert
Adina Lambert is a resident of Roswell, Georgia with her husband and their two young daughters, Anna and Sophie. Before beginning her family, she earned a bachelors and masters degree in electrical engineering from Ohio State University. Adina worked in the field of electrical engineering field where she met her husband. She discovered the joy of early childhood music when she enrolled her children in a Musikgarten class several years ago. Since then she has completed the entire Musikgarten training and has enjoyed teaching with Jan Boner and Musik to Grow since 2001. She is certified a Level II with the Early Childhood Music & Movement Association (ECMMA) and Level I in the Orff-Schulwerk approach. After volunteering as the ECMMA South East Region Conference Registrar in 2003, she has served as ECMMA's Treasurer 2004-2008. Adina is willing to continue to serve in this function. Adina works and teaches with great dedication and detail and is looking forward to sharing music with your child.
Mary Louise Wilson
Dr. Mary Louise Wilson has been involved with Musikgarten since 1994. She travels internationally as a teacher trainer for Musikgarten and is a frequent presenter at national, regional and state music and education conferences. She is also a co-author of Music Makers: At the Keyboard. She currently serves as Vice President of Early Childhood Music & Movement Association. Since 1972 she has been a private and group piano instructor.
Dr. Wilson holds a Ph.D. in Music Education and is certified at Level III with Early Childhood Music & Movement Association. She has been on the faculty at the University of Miami (Florida) and now we are fortunate to have her teach with Musik to Grow.
Laura Davidson
Laura Davidson has been a resident of Marietta, GA for the past 5 years. She is a mother of two young boys (ages 7 and 3) and currently teaches Musikgarten classes and Suzuki violin lessons. Laura has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Performance from the State University of New York at Geneseo and began teaching violin and music and movement classes for young children in 1999 . Laura runs a Suzuki violin studio from her home where she teaches private and group violin lessons. She is registered with the SAA through Book 3 and has done several teacher training courses with the Atlanta Suzuki Institute. She is also a member of the Suzuki Association of the Americas and serves on the board of the Suzuki Association of Georgia. Before moving to GA, she held studios of over 40 students in Tallahassee, FL and Charlottesville, VA.
Early on, as her passion grew for working with young children, she decided to become a licensed Kindermusik teacher and taught for 5 years in Florida and Virginia. Last year, she re-entered the world of music and movement for young children and became a certified Musikgarten teacher. She is a member of the Early Childhood Music and Movement Association and currently teaches classes at The Art Place in Marietta. Laura has plans to expand her private violin studio as well as her Musikgarten program. Outside of teaching, she enjoys performing at weddings and events, working on her new hand-stamped jewelry business, and of course, spending time with her family.
Valorie McDonald
Valorie McDonald was born into a musical family and began playing cello at the age of 10. She earned her Bachelor of Music degree in cello performance from Furman University and then went on the University of Texas at Austin where she earned a Master of Music degree in cello literature and pedagogy. While in Austin, she taught with the University of Texas String Project, a nationally recognized teacher-training program. Through this program, Mrs. McDonald had the opportunity to teach individuals and classes ranging in age from preschool to adult. She has been trained in the Suzuki Method for cello and is certified to teach MusikGarten Family Music and Cycle of the Seasons curricula.
In addition to teaching, Mrs. McDonald has been an active member in her church orchestra as a cellist and assistant conductor. She has also performed as a professional cellist in a string quartet and other various ensembles.
Mrs. McDonald currently resides in Mableton with her husband and two young children.
Julie Cutcliff
Julie Cutcliff is a resident of Marietta with her husband and young son and daughter. After earning her Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of Georgia, she taught in the Cobb County public schools for 11 years as a middle school orchestra director. While teaching she went back to the University of Georgia and received her Master's in Music Education. Once her son was born she began teaching Suzuki cello lessons and has done so for over 7 years at North Atlanta Talent Education. She is a registered Suzuki teacher, a member of the Suzuki Association of the Americas, and a charter member of the Suzuki Association of Georgia. She plays with various orchestras and ensembles in the metro Atlanta area and is excited about working with your children and Musik to Grow.
